CK Facts
- CK is the first non-laser procedure designed specifically for farsightedness.
- CK uses the controlled release of radio frequency (RF) energy instead of a laser or scalpel, to gently reshape the cornea.
- CK is a safe, minimally invasive alternative to laser for farsighted patients.
- CK is fast: The procedure is performed in just under three minutes.
- CK is convenient and comfortable: The CK procedure is performed in-office with only topical (eye-drop) anesthesia.
- CK meets the needs of the risk-adverse patient who's been waiting for a safe, less invasive procedure.
"My experience with CK has been a very positive one. It has been extremely helpful in both my electrology and permanent makeup careers. Prior to CK, I needed to put my heavy-duty magnifiers on to see where I needed to work, or to even throw away a needle and now I do not. It's also great being able to read my watch when I wake up in the morning. It has been a definite improvement in my life and I am highly recommending it" - Diana
How CK Works
CK applies radio waves in a circular pattern on the outer cornea to shrink small areas of collagen. This circular shrinkage pattern creates a tightening band, increasing the curvature of the central cornea to correct farsightedness.
"The CK procedure has made a marvelous difference in my life. My job requires me to do a lot of close-up computer work involving numbers and spreadsheets. Before CK, I had to put on my glasses and then remove them for other tasks. Also, I recently had dinner with three other friends and they all had to pull out their reading glasses to read the menu. I would recommend this procedure to anyone wishing to free themselves of glasses" - Betty
CK - FDA Data
CK was FDA approved in April 2002 to treat +0.75 to +3.00 diopters of hyperopia. CK was proven to be a safe alternative to laser after 5 years of successful clinical trials in the US and abroad. Nearly 95% of CK patients reported being "satisfied" to "extremely satisfied" with their vision after CK. The FDA studies show a 93% restoration to normal vision, which exceeds the FDA guideline of 85% restoration of normal vision required for refractive surgical procedures.
